  • In this case the students suggest the physical box as a representation and they are then able to discuss the pros and cons. Because of their previous discussions, the students are better able to come up with pros and cons for this representation.
  • When it is not brought up by students, the teacher mentions verbal, or "in words" as a final representation.
  • This is an example of the teacher ensuring all the representations are discussed. Since all representations will be emphasized during the semester, at least one conversation about the advantages and disadvantages of each is very necessary.
