• Using the wheatgrass/juice problem, the teacher realizes that her students have solved the problem using two different method.She allows the students to give their solutions, asking them questions as they do.
• After they give their solutions she puts both methods on the board, side-by-side, to point out how they are the similar. She even goes on to show them a setup that will not work for this situation. This will be very helpful when the students have to solve their own problems and also gives them insight into how setting up proportions works.
